There are two primary ways to get Medicare Coverage. The first is Original Medicare and the second is through a Medicare Advantage Plan. There are also additional coverage options, like Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage or Medicare Supplement Insurance that can be purchased.
Option 1: If you decide you want Original Medicare you will need to decide if you also want to purchase Prescription Drug Coverage and Supplemental Insurance.
Option 2: If you decide you want a Medicare Advantage Plan instead of Original Medicare, there is no Supplemental Insurance to purchase and often times Prescription Drug Coverage is included with the Medicare Advantage Plan.

When selecting your Medicare Coverage it is important to note you may have additional coverage options such as other types of health coverage such as employer, union, military or veterans’ benefits. In addition, there may be other Medicare Health Plans that may be available to you such as Medicare Cost Plans, Demonstrations/Pilot Programs, Programs of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), or Medication Therapy Management (MTM) programs for complex health needs.
